Artificial Intelligence, Angel or Demon?

Artificial intelligence has come to our daily lives to stay, having advanced by leaps and bounds in recent years. This technology transforms the way we live and work. AI (artificial intelligence) has gone from online chatbots to autonomous cars, which do not need any kind of human control to make journeys.

Obviously the user is the one who decides the destination, only that once chosen you can get in the vehicle and it transports you in a totally autonomous way. However, we are forced to write this article because obviously not all are benefits, there may be certain components that cause risks using this technology.

The fact of writing this article is just to see AI from another perspective, we do not position ourselves neither for nor against this technology. Moreover, we think that we are living a technological or industrial revolution, in which of course we must get on this boat in order not to be left behind and be updated with the times.

A person who uses artificial intelligence to his advantage can obtain incalculable benefits for his work. It can increase productivity and speed in some processes. There will be changes in the world of work, however there are jobs that Artificial Intelligence will not be able to destroy. So, with that said, let's get started with the article.

Benefits of artificial intelligence

In the medical field, AI has proven to be a valuable tool. AI systems can help identify diseases early and develop more effective treatments. In addition, AI can help personalize treatment to the specific needs of the patient.

AI is also used for medical research and the identification of new drugs. So far it is a tool that serves as a great help to have advances in medicine, undoubtedly being one of the most benefited.

AI can also be useful in predicting natural disasters and mitigating their effects on the population. AI systems can analyze data from different sources, such as ground measurement sensors, weather forecasting systems, and surveillance cameras to predict when and where natural disasters will occur.

This enables governments and organizations to take preventive measures to protect people. In the security field, AI is used to identify suspicious activities and prevent crimes. AI systems can analyze large amounts of data to identify patterns of behavior that may indicate criminal activity. It can analyze suspicious IPs or malicious files with a speed that can be decisive in making critical decisions or remediating certain threats. This enables law enforcement to intervene before crime occurs.

These are just a few fields that benefit from Artificial Intelligence, although there are many more. Many companies in accounting, administrative or even fiscal management can benefit from AI. There are many other tools for the creation of websites, landing pages, or data analysis that can provide significant benefits to agencies like us. Even students in schools or universities, as long as their tutors agree to the use of AI in their classes.

And for teachers who disagree and want to "catch" those students who cheat, there is also an AI that detects which exercises or articles have been developed by Artificial Intelligence. Content creation, images, copywriting, etc. .

There are an infinite number of tools. Seeing that there is so much progress, someone may think that their job is in serious danger. There will be an increase in skilled jobs, however at Adsual we believe that those who are better acquainted with AI, will be the ones who will never be short of work. However, we will talk about this in the next section.

Dangers of artificial intelligence

However, AI also raises concerns about its negative effects on society. One of the main concerns is the impact on employment. As AI becomes more advanced, it may replace jobs that were previously performed by people. This may lead to job losses and increased economic inequality. Mind you, there will be a significant increase in skilled jobs.

In addition, AI also raises ethical issues, such as privacy and misuse of personal information. AI systems can collect large amounts of personal data, such as financial and medical information, location, and online activities.

If this data is misused, it could jeopardize the privacy and security of individuals. In fact in Italy ChatGPT is banned among others because of this issue. Another problem is the dependence on technology. As we rely more and more on AI to make important decisions, such as hiring staff or assessing risks, we risk losing our ability to make decisions for ourselves. This could lead to a decline in individual autonomy and informed decision making. There are also concerns about the safety of AI.

As AI becomes more advanced, it also becomes more difficult to control. If AI is used to carry out cyber attacks or to manipulate information, it could cause significant damage. Elon Musk or other eminences worldwide, have asked to please stop the advancement of this technology because they do not know to what extent it can be controlled or not. In conclusion, artificial intelligence can be both an angel and a demon for society, depending on how it is used.

If used responsibly and ethically, AI can have a positive impact. However, it is also important to address the dangers of AI, such as job loss, privacy and security of personal information, dependence on the technology, and the safety of AI itself. As a society, we must be aware of these risks and work to minimize them as we continue to move forward in the age of AI.

Happy week to all!
